Description
The Elderflower Fields Festival came about because of a need to provide something quite different-a center-based event among the family and kids. Born in 2012 as an immediate growth beyond its expectation-from several hundreds who initially had friends and acquaintances sell over a thousand tickets for an inaugural event-was pretty humbling for this venture. Set against the idyllic backdrop of the Bentley Estate, the sun shone upon attendees, children played, and adults danced, forming the roots of what would become a favorite festival.
This first event's success made the team go back for more in 2013, where the festival doubled in size. Encouraged by word-of-mouth recommendations by those who were there the previous year, attendees flocked in during the second year. With an extended lineup now featuring lots of children's activities, a live music showcase, and locally sourced food delights, Elderflower Fields once again flourished; even the sun was performing an encore.
By 2014, the festival had grown out of its original home and moved to Pippingford Park. The rolling hills and wild countryside proved the perfect haven for the expanding event, and it has since become a much-loved venue, perfectly complementing the family-focused ethos of the festival.
Yet, it has remained true to its intimate roots in growth and expansion. The organizers of Elderflower Fields have kept the size of the festival at manageable levels to ensure safety, exclusivity, and maintain a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Each year, the team works hard to make the experience even better with new and engaging activities that set people returning for more.
Elderflower Fields is an über-curated affair, carefully contrived to stir feelings of wonder and possibility both in adults and children alike. It runs the gamut from sports to music, via arts, nature, and gastronomy in immersive creation for the family-creativity and connection in equal measure. With a promise to offer an exceptional value to its attendees, Elderflower Fields has remained independent and steadfast in delivering a memorable experience.
At its heart, Elderflower Fields is the brainchild of So Sussex, an organization that brings the festival to life through the tireless efforts of a dedicated team. These individuals work year-round, often juggling multiple roles, supported by an ever-loyal network of friends, family, and volunteers. Their combined efforts ensure the seamless execution of the event, particularly in the weeks leading up to the festival, where the hard work behind the scenes truly shines.
Organically growing from a humble start, the Elderflower Fields Festival continues to evolve while retaining the core values that have made it so special right from its very beginning. A festival for families by families-the ultimate in the magic of community and shared experience.
