A brand-new addition to London’s festival scene is set to arrive in June 2025 with the launch of LIDO Festival. Held over two weekends in Victoria Park, the festival takes its name from the park’s historic Lido Field and aims to deliver an exciting mix of music, culture, and community activities, all while championing sustainability.
LIDO Festival is expected to bring a host of benefits to the local Tower Hamlets area, from park improvements to economic boosts. Similar to the impact of All Points East, which generates over £45 million annually for East London, LIDO plans to engage local suppliers, create jobs, and increase spending in sectors such as hospitality and entertainment. In addition to its musical offerings, the festival’s midweek programme will include free events focused on arts, culture, and wellbeing, creating opportunities for local talent and enriching the community.
Although the full line-up is yet to be announced, organisers promise a blend of established headliners and up-and-coming artists, with a special focus on supporting the UK’s music scene. The festival’s ethos is about more than just showcasing talent; it’s about fostering the next generation of performers and creatives through a carefully curated experience that reflects both the artists’ and the festival’s values.
LIDO’s community impact will also extend beyond the music. Its partnership with East London Arts and Music (ELAM) will give students hands-on experience in festival production, technology, and performance, offering them a unique opportunity to gain real-world skills in the creative industries.
Sustainability is at the heart of LIDO Festival’s mission. From the outset, organisers will focus on eco-friendly practices, from how the festival is powered to waste management and local food partnerships. The aim is to minimise the environmental footprint while maximising positive impact, ensuring that LIDO sets a new standard for sustainability in live music events.
With its blend of world-class music, community engagement, and environmental responsibility, LIDO Festival is poised to make a significant mark on London’s summer calendar.
Jim King, CEO of European Festivals at AEG Presents says, "LIDO Festival represents the next stage of AEG's festival journey.
Taking place at Victoria Park, one of our favourite locations in the heart of London's creative districts, Lido Festival allows us to push our ambitions further in working with young people within the industry and those who aspire to be. Most excitingly, this centres about a new generation of artists, whether they're headlining or performing for the first time.
The vision of supporting the artists' journey further develops as we program each day directly with the headliner. This delivers a show that fans know has the artists' musical soul embedded throughout. This is one of the most exciting aspects of Lido Festival, knowing that everyone on the bill means something to the headliner closing out the show."
Cllr Kamrul Hussain, Cabinet Member for Culture and Recreation says, "This new festival, coming to our multi award-winning Victoria Park, has the potential to provide more opportunities for residents to benefit from cultural events; increase expenditure in and boost our local economy through visits to the borough; and generate more income to support council services including the upkeep of our parks and open spaces. We look forward to working with AEG, to ensure that community benefits are at the heart of the new LIDO Festival."
LIDO Festival headliners, full line ups and programmes are to be announced.
