Noah Kahan joined by Lewis Capaldi at BST Hyde Park (Review)

London, Friday 4 July, 2025 – As far as surprises go, Noah Kahan planned a whopper for the 65,000-person strong crowd at American Express presents BST Hyde Park this evening. The Vermont-born folk singer-songwriter welcomed man-of-the-moment Lewis Capaldi – who has just hit Number One in the UK Charts with new single Survive – on stage for a heart-stopping duet. The pair joined forces to sing Kahan’s track Northern Attitudetogether.

Needless to say, Day Four at American Express presents BST Hyde Park 2025 went down a storm. The headline set began with All My Love, followed by Kahan’s trademark tracks New Perspective and False ConfidenceEverywhere Everything, featuring the brilliant Gracie Abrams, was just a taster of the excitement to come. The cornrow-sporting star, who says he has been songwriting since he was eight years old, continued to pull out hit after hit, including She Calls Me Back, You’re Gonna Go Far, Dial Drunk and Great Divide

“I came to London and played to 77 people and it was the greatest day,” he told fans. “There’s a lot more here tonight… I love this city so much!”

Kahan even took to the audience, walking through the crowd, touching hands with the people who had patiently waited through another day of scorching summer temperatures to see him. “This is the biggest crowd I’ve ever played for!” he stated. “We’re all a little nervous but we;re loving every moment.”

Later, he invited his trusty support act Gigi Perez on stage to duet on Call Your Mom. “My mum is here today,” said an emotional Kahan. “My mum used to drive me all around where we grew up to play to absolutely nobody. She got me through everything in life and my career. She would reassure me that one day I would have my chance… This song is for your mum, from me.”

As the sky turned a dusky blue, Kahan’s epic set came to a close. For the encore, the self-proclaimed football fanatic appeared on stage in a Chelsea FC shirt. “This song is about being an asshole from the north,” Kahan laughed as he launched into Northern Attitude. Then, as the second verse began, another figure, also in a Chelsea FC shirt, appeared: Lewis Capaldi. The musical pair strummed through the lyrics together to a roar of screams from the crowd, with Capaldi hitting every top note.

Kahan ended his sold-out show with multi-platinum selling single, Stick Season.

Supporting Kahan on the Great Oak stage wasGracie Abrams, who performed a string of her most cherished songs for an unwavering crowd. Beginning with the upbeat Risk, Abrams had her audience singing along immediately. “London, this is actually crazy, thank you so much for showing up today like this, I just need you to know how much it means to us that you keep showing up…,” she announced with gratitude.

Blowing Smoke and 21 followed – before, impressively, the 25-year-old invited Aaron Dessner of The National on stage. “He’s like family,” she said, as the pair performed a brand new song, something they had written just recently, called Crazy Girl. “It’s the first time we’ve ever played it,” Dessner added. They followed up with I Love You, I’m Sorry, another track the two had penned together before ending their on-stage collaboration with Where Do We Go Now?

The set finished with an acoustic That’s So Trueand Close To You. “We know what a privilege it is to play at such an iconic festival alongside all these unbelievable artists,” Abrams explained, humbly. “We take zero of it for granted, we really try to earn from each other and from all of you every single time.”

“Thanks so much for being here to see me tonight,” proclaimed 27-year-old FINNEAS, as he hit the Great Oak Stage. “It’s a pleasure to be opening for Gracie [Abrams] tonight. I haven’t met Noah yet but I’m looking forward to seeing him tonight!” Supported by his mother, Maggie Baird, FINNEAS – who is also the older brother of Billie Eilish – blew away waiting fans with his guitar tracks 2001Break My Heart and I Lost A Friend. He also brought his co-writer and new band member, Ashe, on stage for tracks The Little Mess You Made and The Hudson. “…It’s been such a fun experience to write these songs over the years and record them and play them for you, it feels like the icing on the cake,” he said. “Thanks so much for giving us this job, this opportunity to play these songs.”

She kicked off her music career after going viral on TikTok with Celene and Sometimes (Backwood), and today Gigi Perez supported Noah Kahan on the BST Hyde Park stage. “I love you so much, London. Thank you for having me,” she said gleefully, launching into songs such as, At The Beach, In Every Life and Sailor Song. And watching her perform were Perez’s most famous fans, Gracie Abrams and Aaron Dessner.

The guitar-strumming singer-songwriter star thanked the crowd for their support. “Thanks for coming down to see me so early,” he said. “I really appreciate it.” Earlier this week, Hazlett expressed his disbelief that he was supporting the remarkable Noah Kahan. He wrote on Instagram: “Oh just a gentle reminder [sic] to you but mainly myself that I’m opening for @noahkahanmusic in Hyde Park London this Friday… That is all. Just needed to post it so my brain might start comprehending that it’s real.”

Over on The Rainbow Stage, Paris Paloma was more than a little excited to be playing London and BST Hyde Park. The Tell It To My Heartsinger — who is known for drumming up one million streams on Spotify for her track, Labour, also brought the likes of The Fruits and Boys Bugs and Men to the BST crowd.

West End star, Asha Banks, also on the Rainbow Stage, revealed that BST Hyde Park was officially her first festival performance. “I cannot believe what is going on. This is my first festival ever, so you are my first festival crowd,” she beamed.

Meanwhile, Georgia’s Sydney Rose, brought her own headline tour to an end today at BST Hyde Park, with some of her favourite songs to perform. From 5 More Minutes to Tell Him I Miss Him, she dazzled festival goers with her gently fierce vocals. “I love my family very much and I’m glad they’re here,” she told fans. “They’ve come all the way from Georgia.”

Kicking off our singer-songwriter Friday of music was Sebastian Schub, who let fans in on a little secret — he used to play football at Hyde Park as a child. The singer, respected for his reflective lyrics, asked: “Are you excited for Noah later? It’s my third show with him.. I can’t wait!”
