RÜFÜS DU SOL will perform at Madrid’s Alma Festival

Electronic australian trio RÜFÜS DU SOL formed in the early 2010s, consisting of Tyrone Lindqvist, Jon George and James Hunt.

Globally, one of the best acts to play live electronic music, the group was originally just RÜFÜS, adding the second half of their moniker in the United States to prevent clashing with a band of a similar name. They were RÜFÜS everywhere else on the globe to avoid confusion in 2018, but by then were already well-established with their shimmering 2014 debut Atlas, the first of many to top the charts back in Australia. Tracks like “Sundream” and “Take Me” offer RÜFÜS DU SOL’s clean and modern sound steeped in synth-pop tradition, with deep-house-informed beats and icy, effervescent synths.

By the end of 2016, the trio parted ways with Bloom, featuring “Like An Animal” and “You Were Right” as singles. Two years later came Solace, Grammy and ARIA-nominated. Throughout this time, they nurtured their live reputation at festivals around the world – Field Day, Electric Forest, and Coachella among them.

In 2020, a turning point came with the release of their live album Live From Joshua Tree. RÜFÜS DU SOL followed this with their fourth studio album, Surrender, in 2021. “This is an album made for a huge, outdoor stage under fireworks, lasers, and miles of starry sky in every direction,” NME wrote at the time. A landmark UK concert at Gunnersbury Park in London, the band’s biggest ever headline show, took place in 2022.

After rounding out their year with the announcement of a UK show at Crystal Palace Park on Saturday 5 July 2025 – part of the Inhale / Exhale World Tour – the band released their fifth studio collection Inhale / Exhale in October 2024, swiftly followed by blistering singles “Lately”, “Music Is Better” and “Pressure”.

RÜFÜS DU SOL will also perform at Madrid’s Alma Festival on 28 June 2025 – a hotly anticipated date that has already sold out.
