Barry Can’t Swim headlines his first major festival show at All Points East on Friday, 22 August 2025, joined by Confidence Man, Shygirl, a UK-exclusive set from Marlon Hoffstadt, plus DJ Heartstring, Interplanetary Criminal, Salute, Chloe Caillet, Leon Vynehall (Live), Pretty Girl (Live), and ATRIP, with more acts to come. East London’s acclaimed festival, All Points East, is set to return to Victoria Park across two weekends in 2025, and the newest headliner has just been announced. Scottish DJ and producer Barry Can’t Swim will take centre stage for his first major festival headline show on Friday, 22 August 2025.

Barry Can’t Swim, known off-stage as Joshua Mainnie, is a powerhouse in electronic music. Fusing house, afrobeat, and jazz influences, he has built a genre-defying style. His breakout EP Amor Fati and the 2022 hit Fiorucci Made Me Hardcore established his reputation for pushing musical boundaries while keeping his sound infectiously melodic. With his Mercury Prize-nominated debut album, When Will We Land?, released in September 2023, Mainnie found himself at the forefront of the electronic music scene. Praised for combining vibrant club energy with carefully crafted compositions, he has cemented his place as a leader in the genre.

Mainnie, originally from Edinburgh, began his musical journey with childhood piano lessons, later discovering a love for club culture during his university years. Immersed in Edinburgh’s underground music scene, he taught himself music production and developed a sound that is both eclectic and captivating. Over recent years, Barry Can’t Swim has built a loyal global fan base, performing at festivals around the world. This year, he sold out three consecutive nights at London’s Brixton Academy and is set to curate his own lineup at the Manchester Warehouse Project. Now, a major festival headline show feels like the natural next step for the “nascent dance icon” (The Guardian) – and All Points East is ready for his debut.

Announcing his headline show this week, Barry Can’t Swim posted on Instagram: “Been dying to share this one… Next year I’m gonna be headlining @allpointseastuk for my only London show in 2025.
Can’t wait x.”

Joining Barry Can’t Swim on the lineup is Confidence Man, known for their infectious electro-pop sound. Since forming in Brisbane, the group – comprised of Janet Planet, Sugar Bones, Clarence McGuffie, and Reggie Goodchild – have developed an explosive stage presence, with their latest track 3AM (LA LA LA) building on their 2022 album Tilt. The Guardian describes their music as an “invitation to escape, pure and simple.

Barry Can’t Swim joins The Maccabees, who are headlining their first show in eight years on Sunday, 24 August 2025, with more headliners yet to be announced. For tickets and more information, visit www.allpointseastfestival.com.
