SUPERNORMAL is a three-day experimental arts and music festival held at Braziers Park in Oxfordshire. The festival provides space for collaboration among artists, performers, and musicians while offering the audience something from another world than the mainstream. It is small with only 1,500 people attending, putting creativity, inclusivity, and imagination above commercialism and profit.
Braziers Park is a beautiful setting, and the festival utilizes this eco-site with fresh running water, eco-toilets, and hot outdoor showers in a grove of trees perfect for camping. The unique atmosphere-so immersive and communal-will be just different in every which way for the attendees.
Background
SUPERNORMAL was established in 2010 as an offshoot of the Braziers International Artists Workshop, an artist-led initiative established in 1995. BIAW ran week-long residencies at Braziers Park, accommodating up to 30 international artists working in a wide range of disciplines. This was one of the rare opportunities for innovative experimentation, where creatives could hold discussions and find imaginative solutions far from the pressure of regular studio work.
Built from the work of BIAW, SUPERNORMAL continues to break new ground into areas of participation and presentation both for its audience and for artists-an opportunity rarely brought by traditional residency or festival setups. The festival again remains committed to the arts, eco-awareness, and boundary-shifting creativity-again celebrating cultural difference alongside a shared common purpose. This helps artist careers at many stages, bringing opportunities for innovatory exploration.
As a Community Interest Company and not-for-profit organization, SUPERNORMAL is curated and produced by a dedicated collective of artists, musicians, and enthusiasts who share a vision for the festival. This team marshals a depth and breadth of experience in creating an alternative cultural event. SUPERNORMAL's commitment to nurturing a creative and inclusive space makes it one of the festival highlights of the year, attracting a diverse audience eager for their transformative cultural experience.
